Anyone who chooses to operate a commercial vehicle, which includes buses carrying passengers, semi-trucks, tractor-trailers trucks, and dump trucks along with various others are expected to possess a CDL (commercial driver’s license). The commercial driver’s license (CDL) is made up of three parts: a pre-trip test, basic skills test, and a commercial driving test or on the road test. Our CDL on-road test is broken into 2 sections: the basic skills test and the truck driving test.
The skills portion of the test has 4 main components and include: backing, alley docking, parallel parking and turning right. The truck driving test portion has eleven parts which include: turning, intersections, rural and urban driving, rural and urban lane changes, stopping and starting, plus several other components.
